Social Security No Match Letter ? Delayed for Now

On October 109th, the federal court in San Francisco issued an order granting a preliminary injunction of the DHS No Match Rule. The ruling means that the government will continue to be prohibited from implementing the DHS rule until the court finally resolves the case after trial. If implemented, DHS No Match Rule would force employers to correct the situation within 90 days upon receiving no-match letters. If they don¡¯t comply, they could get punished by civic/criminal law.

KRCC has been the part of the ¡°Fast Response Network¡± where labor unions, business groups and religious organizations have formed since the issuance of DHS No Match Rule in late August. In conjunction with collaboration, KRCC has helped distribute No Match Guide for Employees and Employers in Korean Language to educate more community members.

DREAM-A-Thon Event

On the 22nd of September, KRCC and its youth group FYSH successfully held the DREAM-A-Thon to raise awareness and support for the DREAM Act. The Dream Act, if passes, would allow undocumented students access to higher education by earning their way to legal status. More than 120 youth and volunteers came to Legion Park to participate in the 2.5 mile walk/run, sign cards and petitions in support of the DREAM Act, and to enjoy an afternoon BBQ. Over $1,000 was raised from this event from T-Shirts sales, registration fees and additional donations.
